He is a young university student. He says he is working on five creative projects. Beyond himself, he has a dream of calling the country and Africa to the forefront. His name is Shihab Suleiman.

Shihab produced a four-legged car named Titan and presented it to the public.

The car is designed to be used for different purposes.

Shihab said during an interview with the BBC that this car, which has the capacity to load eight people, has been specially designed to be suitable for city transport, entertainment and sightseeing.

Shihab Suleiman’s car, Titan, may not be seen in the streets of Addis Ababa.

But before the car, he is a young professional who has achieved his various dreams.

Shihab is currently leading a company called I Star.

In the past, he has received various awards for his creative work.

He says that he is working with a special focus on electronics, automotive, robotics, artificial intelligence, space and the Internet.

Shihab, who says his first invention was an electric cooking stove [stove]; Bread machine, an innovation that allows you to lock and unlock the door with a password, has developed a smart door.

Through these works, he received an award from former Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalen and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

After that, he ventured into robotics and started his own company, traveling all the way to India.

He remembers that he could not find anyone willing to invest money in his creation, even though he designed a phone and prepared the design of the necessary parts, sent it to China, assembled it in the country, and presented it to investors.

A car made by Shihab Suleiman - Titan

The four-wheeled Titan

Shihab Seleiman, a second-year student at Addis Ababa University’s computer science department, recently finished his four-wheeled car for display.

The car made by this young man has the capacity to carry eight people and has been praised by various parties on social media.

Shihab also says that he named the car ‘Titan’ during his interview with the BBC.

Titan is the name of Saturn’s moon. Shihab says that he has special love for Saturn out of all the planets and he took this name from there.

Explaining the reason for giving this name, he explained that it is easy to pronounce and his work will be easily accepted when it is presented to the foreign market.

This young man said that it was his childhood dream to make a car, and he said that he did it based on the idea that our country, Ethiopia, would “have a car that we can call our own” and earn foreign currency by exporting it.

“First, we thought that our country should have a car with its own name. After that, we chose among the various designs we made. Based on this, we decided which one would be acceptable if it came out to the market, and we were able to produce it.”

ሺሃብ ሱሌይማን የሰራትን መኪና፣ ታይታንን ሲያሽከረክር

Where did the raw materials for making the Titan car come from?

When Shihab finished working on the Titan, it was painted and ready to drive, he remembers that the first person to embarrass him was his brother.

He told Bibi that he tried to scare him by joking that “her car doesn’t have insurance”, but his brother trusted him and they drove around the city to check that it was working properly.

Young Shihab, who says that there are problems in bringing innovative projects to the market in Ethiopia, but there are problems in bringing them to the market. He says that the root of this problem is that he did not study the market situation in the country well from the beginning.

He explains that they are getting appreciation and constructive feedback from the community with their current Titan car and they are working to improve the limitations of the vehicle and bring it to market.

Talking about his future plans, he says, “I want to have our own brand of car in our country. I am working on technology and five creative projects. I want to establish a big industry so that the people of our country and the outside world can benefit.”

He also stated that it is his wish that other young people will contribute to the development of their country by doing what they love with their talents and developing it into a business.
